Our goal is to bring together the life sciences leaders and quantum innovators in a series of curated gatherings that will define and direct the next steps in applied quantum computing to shorten drug discovery and development timelines.

Our Convergence Quantum III (CQIII) series expands to a series of programs ranging from community programs (open to the public) to highly curated salons as well as the one day conference. We are building a vibrant and engaged quantum community to accelerate the growth of quantum from emerging company formation to industry use cases.

The quantum landscape in biopharma is rapidly changing. Our conversation during this program touched upon the following:

  • The investment community has become quite broad with a diversity of investment interests; there is still a significant focus on the computing layer; sensing is also an emerging area.

  • Quantum application companies are in a period of evolution both from a technology perspective and end user interest. Evolving business models make investments challenging.

  • There are five quantum algorithms that have shown unique advantage.

  • AI builds from existing data while advanced quantum applications require new ways to approach the problem and still needs human insight to define that problem.

  • A smart quantum talent pool is important to the growth of the industry, both within large biopharma companies and among quantum specific companies.

The region's biopharma cluster delivers a unique market of potential quantum end users.

While investor interest in the space has grown, applied quantum is still fundamentally based on classical modeling. Until tangible results can be fully realized, the biopharma industry may be slow to adapt. Pure play companies are therefore important for realizing quantum potential.
